The Evans Wine Company was established in 1973 as a collaboration between the great Len Evans and Denis Power, the well-known wine educator and raconteur. Since Len’s death in 2006, Denis continued the work of the Evans Wine Company.
Leonard Paul Evans, Order of the British Empire and Order of Australia. Len, to his many friends and admirers, was at the forefront of the drive to quality and international recognition. This extraordinary man was not only awarded honors by both Britain and Australia for his contribution to wine, but also received the French Ambassador’s medal for Personalite de L’Annee and in 1997 was Decanter Magazines "Man of the Year." A former Chairman of the National, Sydney and Adelaide Wine Shows, Len was founder of and blender extraordinaire for The Evans Wine Company, which was established to export wine to the world. Long-time associate, and former CEO of Rothbury, Denis Power handled the day-to-day operations of the company since Len’s death in 2006.
Len and Denis created brands that would specifically suit the export market, all brands represent value and regions of true Australian wine. Len Evans, was with no doubt the voice of Australian wine, this passion of wine still flows through the company today, with a new generation of family winemakers carrying on the traditions of Len and Denis.
OUR WINEMAKER: Emma Norbiato
Our talented winemaker, Emma Norbiato, has over a decade experience within the wine industry, previously working at Casella Wines, Lindemans and Penfolds. Emma has also gained experience abroad working a vintage in Italy at Castelgiocondo in Montalcino (part of the Frescobaldi group).
